Sometimes we forget that we are only human and it's okay to reach out for help, encouragement and guidance as we deal with life stressors. We may feel overwhelmed with emotions, numb,  alone in our suffering or maybe  we feel off balance or have a sense that something is not quite right. Whatever the concern or motivation, going to counselling can be a wise investment in your current and future wellbeing.

Individual Counselling

 

Our emotional and psychological well-being, like our physical well-being, requires attention for us to stay healthy and function to our best capacity. At times we may need immediate crisis support for safety and stabilization and other times we may benefit from a regular check in to help us continue to manage, learn and grow. Oftentimes, we are unaware that we are stuck in patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that although once had a purpose, are no longer serving us. Counselling support can help us find relief from distress, gain insight and awareness into some of these patterns and move from surviving and managing to thriving and finding enjoyment and meaning in life.  

What is EMDR Therapy? 


Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a well-researched, evidenced based approach to working with trauma. EMDR involves the use of procedures that includes bilateral stimulation to organize thoughts, feelings and emotions and help you process disturbing memories that may be impacting your current wellbeing. It is not necessary to disclose all details of your traumatic experiences in order to process them.  

 

Couples Counselling

Whether you are contemplating committing to a new relationship or looking to rescue, rebuild or enhance an existing relationship, couples counselling may help.  Many couples have enhanced the quality of their relationship through counselling.

 

Relationship goals often involve understanding personal triggers impacting the relationship, learning how to improve communication and manage conflict, gain awareness around patterns of interacting and reacting, enhancing safety and security in the relationship.  

Child, Adolescent and Family Counselling

 

Like adults, children and adolescents can also benefit from counselling to process traumatic experiences, learn ways to better communicate, work through problems and manage big worries and feelings. It is also important to consider the whole family system and work collaboratively with parents as children develop and grow in relationship with others. Parent involvement can take the form of family sessions, parenting support sessions or regular parent check-ins to track progress and promote child, adolescent and family well-being.

  

Parenting Support: Parenting is hard work and does not always feel rewarding. Many times we struggle to understand why our children are behaving in certain ways and what they may be needing from us. It is not uncommon for caregivers to have thoughts about not being a good enough or have feelings of guilt and shame. Attachment-based parenting support can help take some of the mystery out of parenting, promote a sense of relief, instill confidence in your parenting ability and enhance the quality and enjoyment of the caregiver-child relationship.  


What is Circle of Security? 


Circle of Security – Parenting (COSPTM) Program is a particular attachment-based parenting program that focuses on understanding and enhancing security in the relationship between caregiver and child to increase capacity to enjoy the relationship. Research has shown that secure attachment relationships are the foundation for optimal brain development and wellbeing. 

Telepsychology

  

Teletherapy or Telepsychology involves the provision of counselling and psychological services using various telecommunication tools or devices including phone or video. These virtual or distance services are often provided when in-person sessions are not feasible. Connect to services from the convenience and safety of your own home.

 

Telehealth/Telepsychology has been shown to be an effective form of therapy in the scientific literature.
